AnanDa hails from an illustrious musical family, starting with his forefathers, who were court musicians in King Saraboji’s durbar in Tanjore. Patnam Subramania Iyer, one of the doyens of Carnatic music is AnanDa’s great-great grandfather. His father and uncles were all Carnatic musicians. He however went the Hindustani way! He specialises in Mohan Veena, a modified slide guitar. He is a direct disciple of Grammy Award winner and Padma Bhushan Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, the inventor of the Mohan Veena. AnanDa has created a unique concept ‘Bollywood to Bhairavi’ (B2B) – to teach classical music through the medium of mainstream film music. This has resonated very well with many and he now takes regular B2B classes, with students in India, Dubai, USA and India. His aim is to get today’s youngsters to appreciate the rich heritage of Indian classical music and engage with it. A Chartered Accountant and IT professional, AnanDa lives in London with his wife Bhuvana. A few notable events in his musical career: • completed Sangeet Prabhakar (B. Mus) in Hindustani classical music by the age of 18 and started performing on All India Radio from the age of 15 • given several public performances in Moscow, UK, USA and India for over 25 years • been teaching vocal music and Mohan Veena for over 15 years with students in UK, Dubai, USA and India • set up The NoteAsia Foundation in 2009 in London which was launched by Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt • Created the unique concept of ‘Bollywood to Bhairavi (B2B) in 2012 to teach Indian classical music through film music
