A popular and reputed performing artist and a teacher, Saleel Tambe is well-known for Indian music and tabla accompaniment to established artists. Saleel has performed at major prestigious venues including the Southbank Centre, Nehru Centre, House of Commons, Victoria and Albert Hall, Waterman’s Arts Centre, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, India Now Festival and numerous other concerts.

He has also recorded numerous albums, as well as music for film and for the BBC. Saleel is also an acclaimed wildlife and nature photographer, an author and a columnist.

Belonging to a musical family originating from India, Saleel has been fortunate to be associated with musical stalwarts like Pt Bhimsen Joshi, Pt Jitendra Abhisheki , Pt C.R Vyas, Pt. Rohini Bhate. Initiated into music by his parents, Saleel then receives advanced tabla training from Pt Ramdas Palsule, a senior deciple of Taalyogi Pt Suresh Talwalkar.

Residing in the UK – regularly provides accompaniment to the local as well as top Indian artists visiting UK / Europe.

Being closely associated with London Sitar he is also actively involved in several fusion music initiatives. Recently he has been  playing a key role in a fusion project being coordinated with London Mozart Players.

Saleel has been regular participant at the SAJDA FESTIVAL events.
